Black & White

Sleepless nights is an under-estimated thing. Its been a while now.. But it is always them, or rather her... Never hurting me, but always there.. Once in a bath tub, once on a dark, many - a - times walked upon, street, another time eating a friend (Atleast thats what I think he was, cause I wouldn't go out on walks with non- friends, especially if they are guys).. Once took my brother on a ride (I told you CHOMU... Drop the fucking rope.... Nooooooooooooo....)... But always there... Thats my thing I guess.. I always get snakes in my dreams... Always...

Its not that I dream all that often but whenever be the case they are always there... Hisssssing there way, I dont know why???... My Ma thinks that it is because I suffer from atheism, that the GODS have become angry.... HOLY SMOKE...

***************************Thunder***************************

Hope she never reads this... Come on Ma I dont wanna wake up early... Not on weekends... I promise I will never have snakes in my dreams ever again.....

A friend(this is not my claim...the friend thingy...) thinks that its because I was probably a snake charmer in my previous birth.... My thoughts exactly.....

My humble thoughts, makes me think(Ahem??) that there is a certain Miss Fangs who wants her presence to be felt...SNAKE CHARMER....YEAH BABY... So she haunts me and crawls in my dreams... I wonder if she dreams of me too?? In some hole in the ground... Dreaming... Oblivious to the fact that it is raining outside and her hole would be full of water.... WET DREAM....

I tried many a things.... Not that they, the snakes hurt me.... But still what the fuck its my life and my dreams.... So I do because I am.... HuH??

But nothings worked, so far.... I even read Sigmund Freud to change my dreams... But all he could interpret is that it is the rise of my sexual life.... HuH?? What am I?? 13?? What the fuck?? Screw yourself Siggie.. Wow my dreams come 10 years too late... But probably there is no linear time in dream world... For you may think that you dreamt something but are never too sure... Soooooooooo..... Technically... Only technically you don't dream (Ha...So stop thinking that you can control them or that I dont have abs, I showed you the photos didnt I??) but dreams do you... Yeah BABY!!!

But whatever be the case... They (or rather she) come(s).... Enter Fangman (No Fangwoman).....

I only dream in black and white...............

Stranger than Fiction

Well this is an incident that happened to the grandfather of a friend. Now this man(the grandfather) was in service with the Indian Railways post independence. This incident occured when he was posted as a station master to a far off station in some village. I am not too sure of the geographical details but here is the story( I am going to tell the incident in first person)::

India was at war, yes it was the Indo-Pak war. The village was very deeply located, so deep that many people had forgotten about its existence. And those who did well the war had brought on too many things to help them forget of its existence. But well anyways I was posted here and doing my duty. Not many trains arrived or left the station, just a few goods train here and there and well a passenger train once in a while. The station was usually empty, and that was one of the reasons I was surprised to see this old man on the station this morning. He had a very expression-less, wrinkled face. You get to see more of wrinkles on the faces of villagers in India, partly due to the fact that they worked all day long in the fields and partly because thay had seen too many dreams getting squashed and too many promises made to them had been broken. But still hope lingered on.

Anyways this old villager in ragged and dirty clothes walked towards me. He had three pink coloured papers in his hand. Well these coloured papers were very commom these days and I recognised them very well, they were the telegrams. They were perhaps one of the ways that the headquarters could actually contact me since the nearest telephone was miles away. Anyway as he approached me, my eyes kept moving towards those telegrams, the source of all the good and sad news that need to be told immediately.

"Sahib", he called me, "could you please read these out to me." There were three telegrams in his wrinkled and sun-burnt hands. "Sure", I said. I took the telegrams from his hand and started reading them, inorder to understand and translate the contents to him in his native language. The first one read, "Regret to inform you the desmise of your son, Sp. Mahinder Singh STOP He died in action STOP." The second one read, "Regret to inform you the desmise of your son, Hav. Bhagat Singh STOP He died in action STOP." By the time I came to the third one my hands were already shivering. The third one read what I had feared "Regret to inform you the desmise of your son, Hav. Ram Singh STOP He died in action STOP." Now my whole body was shaking as the old man looked up expectantly towards me. How could I tell him such a heavy news. Nothing is more sad as news than to hear the news of the death of your son.

Keeping a control over my nerve I broke the news to him. I had expected him to break down or faint down. But nothing of that sort happened, he took the news unexpectadely well. I asked him if he was alright and and without any emotion in his voice, he replied while taking the telegrams from my hand, " I am alright Sahib, you need not worry. They have died for their country. I have lost three sons. But I have two more and am waiting expectedly so that they grow up soon so that they too can join the army." I was left speechless as the old man walked away.

Salute the institution called the indian army

As I was driving down to the office today. Just a few blocks away I noticed two of my collegues walking on the other side of the road. So I thought I'll pick them up and we can all go to office in my car. As I crossed the road they vanished somewhere in the crowd. My eyes searching for them, and not realising that I was turning without looking and then came a bang. I had crashed my car into someones side. The bumper of the other car came out slightly from one end. And then I thought that probably I was doomed.

It was yesterday only that I was reading about cases how such accidents lead to cases of road rash and probably even hospitalisation. The driver came out of the car to look at the damages. He was actually smiling. I realised why he was smiling, he was not the owner, the owner came out now as well. Since my car was stranded right in the middle of the road, I gestured to the owner that I am gonna park my car and then we can talk. Oh boy i thought....the owner came towards me and asked me if I was new to driving and then I apologised. After that all he asked was where do I stay and what was my father's name. On replying the questions he told me his name and that he too was a Brig. in the army just like my father. I enquired about the damages but he said it was okay and asked me to be more careful in the future, as i may get hurt.

I was like wow what happened back there. As I was driving to my office then I began thinking why in this money hungry world would a person become generous enough to let a young boy like me walk away like this. I came up with two explanations. One, probably he was in the later years of his life and money was not all that important to him or probably he was just in a very genereous mood. Two, it was probably because of the ARMY sticker at the back of my car. And then I thought the second reason sounded more reasonable. Man, this really showcases one characterisitics of the officers of the Indian Army, they really treat each other as a family. They love and respect the rests of its members. I am not sure if such a kind of relationship will ever exist in any other organisation.

I SALUTE THE INDIAN ARMY.
